Conquest
Tile conquest opens the frontier and controls progression
Frontier growth is the spine of Step Conquest. Battle tiles, activity routes, and boss-region approaches all become meaningful because territory ownership controls what the player can safely reach next.
The world map is not cosmetic. Legions march across real tiles, claim adjacent ground, open active gathering routes and boss paths, and push into deeper enemy bands as territory expands.
Section 1
How tile conquering works
Claiming land follows strict world-map rules instead of instant menu unlocking.
- Legions pay steps to march from their current tile to a selected target on the map.
- Only unconquered plots that are adjacent to already-owned territory can be claimed.
- Battle tiles, activity routes, and boss approaches all matter because they can extend the conquest line.
- Activities and bosses are considered reachable only when one of their tiles touches conquered territory.

Section 2
What the tile colors mean
The live mobile map already uses color to tell the player what can be claimed, what is owned, and what is worth pushing next.
- Blue tiles are already conquered territory. This is your safe expansion line and the space your frontier has already secured.
- Red tiles are adjacent frontier tiles. They are the next valid conquest targets because they touch your current territory.
- Yellow or gold-highlighted tiles mark resource gathering spots like Mining and Foraging, so they stand out as productive field targets on the frontier.
- Black-highlighted regions are boss-fight territory. Reaching them means your conquest line has finally opened a major progression checkpoint.
Section 3
Gathering stays active
Mining and Foraging stay tied to deliberate map activity instead of passive buildings.
- Mining nodes and forage routes unlock as the frontier reaches their map tiles.
- Each gather action spends steps and levels its matching activity skill.
- Gathering rewards feed alchemy, smithing, guild quests, and future crafting loops.
- Boss approaches and activity routes share the same territory rules, so map position stays important.
Section 4
Resource items and enemy progression
The frontier mixes explicit field routing and stronger enemy bands so every new tile matters.
- Mining nodes escalate from Hillcore and Emberrock into Hellcrack, bringing copper, iron, silver, crystal, adamant, and obsidian online over time.
- Foraging routes escalate from Fernfall and Dreamroot into Whispering Vines, adding mushrooms, spirit leaf, flower nectar, life blossom, and elder root.
- The current world uses ten weighted progress groups, so early frontier tiles stay safer while deeper routes pull in stronger enemy families and harder level bands.
